The Appliance Efficiency Program (AEP)

The AEP is a rebate program that provides a monetary incentive to AE customers to purchase and install 12 SEER or higher HVAC equipment. Without weatherization, the amount of the rebate is dependant on the efficiency of the appliance—in the case of central air conditioning and heating systems, it depends on the SEER rating. The rebate schedule for existing structures are as follows: 12-12.9 SEER--$100; 13-13.9 SEER--$250, 14-14.9 SEER--$400, 15 SEER and higher--$550. The advantages of using the AEP are that no verification inspection is required and no weatherization services are involved, so it can be done quickly. Like all rebate programs from the city, eligibility requires the replacement of the indoor and outdoor parts of the system and a building permit. The AEP has separate levels of rebate for new and existing construction.
