THE CITY OF AUSTIN PROGRAMS

Austin Energy (AE, the community owned electric utility) offers comprehensive programs to aid its residential customers and lower total electric power demand. They are nationally known and widely imitated. The programs are under the leadership of Jerrel Gustafson with the cooperation of Strand Brothers and are utilized by many AE and Strand Brothers customers. In fact, Strand Brothers does more work through these programs than any other registered contractor. To contact AE for information, call:

Information is also available at the AE website, AustinEnergy.com

BASIC PROGRAM INFORMATION
*Applicant must be a customer of AE. Residence may be outside the Austin city limits, the operative requirement is that electric power must be purchased from AE.
*All work must be performed by an approved contractor. The entire list of approved contractors is available from AE or on AustinEnergy.com (their website). Strand Brothers is an approved contractor. Work performed by customers is not eligible under this program.
*Customers are eligible for either loan or rebate programs—not both.
*All equipment must be 12 SEER or higher.
*Mobile homes and manufactured homes are not eligible.
*Electric furnace systems must be replaced with heat pump systems.
*All proposed heating and air conditioning systems must be sized according to AE's recommendation of 600 sq.ft. per ton of air conditioning. A slight increase in sizing may be acceptable when exceptional load conditions are present.
*No rebates or loans are available for partial replacement of air conditioning systems or furnace-only replacements. Both indoor unit and outdoor unit must be replaced in order to qualify.
