We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself before your call Strand Brothers Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating system will still not turn on, give Strand Brothers Service Experts a call at 512-592-3072 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
