Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my hot water heater running out so fast?
If you notice the supply of hot water isn’t lasting as long as it should, it might be because something’s wrong with your tank hot water heater. The heating element may be covered in grime or mineral buildup.

My toilet won't stop running. Why?
A constantly running toilet could be dealing with any number of issues, including a broken flapper seal, flush valve or flapper chain. You may find it’s the handle itself that’s causing the problem. A running toilet wastes a lot of water, so don’t hesitate to contact our plumbers at 512-592-3072 .

Why is my dishwasher's drainage not working?
One of the most common reasons your dishwasher isn’t draining correctly is because the drain line is clogged. The line, also known as a drain hose, removes water from the dishwasher tub at the end of a cycle. If the drain line is clogged, water may not be able to flow properly. Contact our certified plumbers for troubleshooting and repairs.

What should I do if a pipe bursts?
A fast response is important if you’re dealing with a burst pipe because it froze. Expert plumbers should handle broken pipe repairs, but there are several things you can do without help to keep the pipes from freezing in the first place:
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to permit warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.
Let the cold water drip from faucets served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe—even at a trickle—helps prevent ice from forming and freezing.
Minimize changes to the thermostat and keep your home at least 50 degrees, even after you’re not home.

Why does my garbage disposal smell?
Break down food scraps right away with cold water and leave the disposal on for about 30 seconds to ensure everything is broken down. You should also stop putting coffee grounds, eggshells, potato peels and other large pieces of food into the disposal, because they produce drainage issues and bad smells.
